Silence

Silence – Makes the words and music come alive. Creates distance that helps us view clearly. Is the pause before we go playing again. Is the emotion of devotion, awe and wonder. Creates space for deep listening and empathy. Is the rest that the soul needs to nourish itself. Is what we come back to when the act is over. Silence – Is the doorway to self-awareness. Is the teaching of the masters. Is the language of stillness. Wisdom is – To know how to be Silent.

I: My Hero

Between who we are and who we want to be is perhaps one of life’s greatest journeys to take. We look up to Heroes — in admiration and awe. Our mind tells us — they can do it, but we can’t. Because they are made of different matter and mind. Hence, the Hero always remains a mythic figure. A human God that we end up worshipping. In the shadow of whom, we remain small and incomplete. Yet, if we ask, “What heroic values do I admire in others?” And then ask, “ How might I make those values mine?” Inch

Our SELF

If we observe ourselves objectively and deeply- We will discover three startling phenomena: 1/ This idea we call “our self” is constantly changing –  Nothing stable, static and unchanging that we can call the self. Question – what is that unchanging part of us that we call our SELF?  2/ This idea we call “our-self” is purely relational –  A set of interactions taking place between our body-mind and nature. We circle some part of that and call it our ‘self’. Question – what is that absolute SELF that we refer to beyond the interactions?  3/ This idea we call “our-self” is

Choice-less Awareness

When we see an animal – We see the image of the animal – in our head. When we see a person – We see the image of the person in our head. When we see our child – We see the image of our child – in our head. We never see things as they are.  We see them in the form of a story in our head. Our perceptions tint these images. And these images reside in the judgments we carry. Can our mind see without forming a judgement? Can our mind separate fact from story? Wisdom Is

Silence

To be in Silence to be in the highest spiritual state. Meditation, yoga, prayers, chanting… Most spiritual practices across religions work with a simple purpose – To quieten the noisy mind. To find Silence, within. Listen to the silence. It has much to say.  – Rumi True Silence is not the absence of sound. It is the absence of thought.  There is relative Silence at the level of the mind. There is absolute Silence, above the mind. Wisdom is –  To be in Silence. To operate from Silence.

Second Awareness

I am hungry. I am angry. I am happy. I am aware – that I am angry. I am aware – that I am stressed. I am aware – that I am feeling cold. Thoughts, feelings, sensations, perceptions. The monkey mind interacts with these all the time. The second awareness is the awareness of Thoughts, feelings, sensations, perceptions- As they show up. The second awareness is the observation of mind, From outside the mind. Witnessing Life is a spiritual act.

Eternal

Eternal is not the same as everlasting. Eternal is not placed in the field of time. It’s not a continuation in life. Eternal is not an extension of time. To use more mathematical symbolism – Eternity is orthogonal to the dimension of time. But it can intersect with time at any place, But it leaves no history or imprint in the field of time. Awareness. Truth. Love. Beauty. Rapture. All aspects of the eternal. None rooted in time. NOW.HERE. Eternal.

I Am.

I am a daughter. I am a father. I am a doctor. I am a player. I am tall. I am creative. I am American. I am Christian. I am celibate. I am depressed. I am happy. I am rich. I am happy. I am spiritual. I am This. I am That. We know ourselves only in relation to something –  Role, feeling, attribute, affiliation, status… When we say, “I am”, the mind asks – I am what? What are we before the intrusion of the mind? It demands a new kind of knowing.   First knowing: I Am –

Where To Find The Answers

Teacher: Why don’t you find the answers yourself? Student: Because I don’t know a lot about the subject. Teacher: Then why do you think I have the answers? Student: Because I think you know more about the subject than I do. Teacher: You said you don’t know a lot about the subject. Then how can you know that I know more about the subject? The true test of a spiritual seeker: How clearly he understands the difference between knowledge and wisdom. The true test of a spiritual teacher: How long it takes for her to convince the seeker to look

Our Biggest Fear

Risk and adventure go hand in hand. If the risk goes away, the adventure goes away. The thrill of adventure lies in the experience of the risk. Win at the end signifies the conquering of fear. What is the biggest adventure of them all? The adventure of self-discovery. To meet the authentic but unacknowledged self in us. What is the risk? The risk of discovering who we truly are! Our biggest fear is perhaps not the fear of death. It is perhaps the fear of meeting our true selves. Living a self-aware life requires courage. Courage to let go of
